The fourth edition of Dubai Food Festival (DFF) came to a close on 11 March after an unparalleled celebration of Dubai’s world-class gastronomy. From it’s kick-off on 23 Feb, DFF 2017 offered a schedule packed with exciting food experiences, events and promotions. Organised by Dubai Festivals and Retail Establishment (DFRE), an agency within Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), DFF featured a fantastic turnout of foodie favourites and newcomers alike. 1. Miele Dubai Restaurant Week
Foodies enjoyed unforgettable gourmet three-course set menu for AED199 at some of Dubai’s iconic locations during Miele Dubai Restaurant Week that took place from 23 February to 4 March, for Miele Dubai Restaurant Week, some of Dubai’s most iconic restaurants offered three course set menus for AED199. The impressive list also featured Dubai’s newest and most-loved restaurants such as Namu and Pierchic.
2. Etisalat Beach Canteen
The beach behind Sunset Mall transformed into a dining and entertainment hot-spot during Dubai Food Festival 2017 as Etisalat Beach Canteen took over. Families enjoyed a exciting line-up of events that included celebrity chef demos, home-grown restaurant concepts and immersive family-friendly activities. Entertainment ranged from fitness classes, beach football, open mic nights to farmers’ markets, children’s play areas and a beach cinema.
3. Dubai Hidden Gems
Hidden Gems was a celebration of the city’s unsung culinary heroes – favourite affordable eats that are tucked away from the city’s more prominent dining scene. During DFF, foodies wandered into Dubai’s backstreets to explore these curbside eateries that offer distinct cuisines. As a result of the Hidden Gems competition, ten of these dining secrets were brought into the spotlight.
Visitors also enjoyed Emirati Hidden Gems, which represent recommended eateries that focus on Dubai’s traditional cuisine. Many of these establishments use recipes that have been handed down for generations, while others have created contemporary concepts around more traditional dishes.
4. Taste of Dubai
Running for the tenth consecutive year, this landmark event offered a delectable blend of food, culture and music, featuring fine dining restaurants, world-class celebrity chefs and an amazing line-up of international music. For three days, from 9 to 11 March, guests gathered to watch live demonstrations, cook with the pros or simply relax and enjoy the tasty treats.
5. Darnival featuring Fatafeat Kitchen
For the third consecutive year, Darnival featuring Fatafeat Kitchen, the leading Arab food TV channel in Middle East, offered family-friendly interactive events featuring regional and international celebrity chefs, cooking demonstrations, competitions and free tasting sessions. Taking place from 24 to 25 February at Dubai Festival City Mall, the open infotainment event offered catwalks emulating the lifestyle channel DLife, DMax entertainment for men and an activity centre for kids to learn, explore and meet a character from DKids channel.
